WhatsApp allows you to notify your friends if you change your phone number. This new option even allows you to select which contact you want to share your new number. For the moment, this feature is reserved for users of the beta version of WhatsApp, which you can download from the Google Play Store.

At present, a WhatsApp lambda user can already use the “change number” function which allows transferring account information, settings and groups from one previous phone number to another. The next version of WhatsApp will not be content to transfer your data: the application will notify your contacts that you have changed numbers, reports WABetaInfo.

Thanks to WhatsApp, tell your contacts that you have changed your phone number!

As the screenshots below show, this future feature is being tested for Android and iOS versions. To use this option, go to Settings, Account and then Change number. Whether you have an iPhone or an Android smartphone, you will be able to choose from:

Notify all your contacts in your phonebook when dialing

Notify only the contacts you are chatting with (active chat)

You can also customize the list of people you want to prevent

The groups you belong to will also receive a notification: they are indeed considered as an active cat, says WABetaInfo. Of course, you can also choose not to notify any of your contacts that you have changed your phone number. Once the number transfer is done, an information bubble will appear at the top of each conversation mentioned by the user, along with the new number to use.

To take advantage of this new option, and many more, on your Android smartphone, you need to download the latest beta version of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store. If you prefer larger screens, download the latest version of WhatsApp for your Android tablet. What do you think of this feature? Will you use it?
