Motorola has introduced in the US a new Moto mod for its own smartphones Moto Z series. The new Moto Stereo Speaker Mod is a cost-effective alternative to the JBL SoundBoost 2, priced at $ 59.99.
If one of the JBL SoundBoost 2 was too expensive as a Moto Mod, maybe the new Moto Stereo Speaker Mod might be worth a closer look. Introduced today exclusively for the American market, the docking speaker has two 28 mm diameter drivers of similar size that can produce a volume of 80 decibels at a distance of 50 centimeters. Closer data, which allow conclusions on the audio quality, are currently not available – it is clear that this product was not developed in cooperation with JBL.
No battery on board
The biggest difference between the Moto Stereo Speaker Mod and the JBL SoundBoost 2 is probably the absence of an integrated battery. Motorola’s version of the docking speaker is supplied with power directly from the smartphone, which, in addition to the lower price, also reduces weight by 30 grams. Nevertheless, the Moto Mod with 15 mm is even slightly thicker, but at least also has a kickstand integrated.
First of all, the Moto Stereo Speaker Mod will be available exclusively in the US for $ 59.99. It is unlikely, however, that Motorola will offer the product in Germany in the future.
